Highlighting and enhancing Ebrington’s transformation from a 19th military barracks to a vibrant and welcoming 21st century destination.
DNA (Derry on the North Atlantic) is a new museum in the city of Derry~Londonderry, Northern Ireland, due to due to open in 2027.
With a fantastic collection of artefacts and archives drawn from centuries of local city and district history which highlights the importance of the city and the wider Foyle Basin in a range of globally important historic events. This ambitious new museum will highlight Derry’s relationship with the world, and the city’s significance and role in an international dimension. It will be a must-see visitor attraction which will establish international linkages and attract out of state visitors to Derry and the northwest region with economic, social and cultural benefits to Northern Ireland and to the city itself.
The DNA Museum will see buildings 45/46 and 49 on the Ebrington site developed and re-purposed into this modern, state of the art museum, due to open early 2027. Works will commence on the site in Summer 2025 following the appointment of a Main Contractor. The location of the new DNA Museum at Ebrington Square allows for the overall tourism and heritage product and visitor experience to be widened to include Ebrington and set the scene for the overall enhancement of the visitor experience along the axis of the riverfront and across to the Walled City via the Peace Bridge.
